So I've talked about my best friend Megan Miller's band And the Kids before, and I've definitely mentioned her band Valois a few times, but I haven't gone into too much detail about the incredible Rose Bush because the last time I "saw" them, I was confined to the wonderful but oh-so back of the concert space merch table..and didn't actually see much of anything at all. So much of what makes them amazing is their performance, but of course their music is killer fantastic also. These are all seriously talented musicians and I'm so glad that I got to see them perform together tonight at The Burdock.

I'm also pretty sure that Valois played our best show of all time! Duncan is our amazing friend and superfan and has been to a million of our shows, and he said this one was the best he's seen. I felt it too. I'm feeling good.

Rose Bush is now among the coolest bands I have seen live. Their music is simple and complex all at once; poetic and unapologetically straight to the point. The experience that they create is cool, to put it simply. Ali Levy commands the bass with power and precision and belts some badass vocals all at once. Amanda Lea mirrors Ali's energy on the guitar, and the most intricate and sweet riffs seem to flow as easily from her fingers as her silky, powerful voice. The two of them play out some awesome choreography while Brigitte and Megan hold down the chill in the background. Brigitte Naggar dances with her drums; at times slowly and casually and at times intensely and passionately. Megan Miller goes from looking laid-back as hell as if she's playing complicated synth riffs with only her pinky finger and does that every day and it's nothing at all to grooving and moving her entire body with the loud siren she's creating with the green guy. Megan is truly the queen of cool, and this band definitely matches that cool pretty well.

Just a quick note on Luge, the headliner of the night...Luge is very very cool. Check Luge out for sure if you like interesting tempos and atypical music. A very fun dancing challenge for sure.
