So it was a good May 17th, but I'd mostly like to talk about the late evening of the 16th and the very beginning of the 17th.
I had a really good birthday.
I thought Don might be home once I arrived home from Kensington at maybe 10:30pm, but it seemed that he wasn't. I stretched my legs and massaged my feet and hummed some songs from Hamilton that I'd been listening to on my walk and waited. A few minutes later he arrived, and we went to drop his van off at the spot.
When we got home, he began to bake something. I played some guitar and sang and eventually he let me lick a bowl. Tasty.
As the something hung out in the oven, he handed me a bag. The best card ever was inside! It had a pokemon snap Don/Shannon love story and OH BOY do I go for that. Wow. Nerdy, nerdy love. He also found me the most perfect robe in the universe! I am wearing it in the photo above with (spoiler) one of the brownies that was in the oven.
Then he played me a song he wrote...specifically for this day. Oh my god how I cried with gratitude. I asked him to play it four more times, crying each time, and eventually he had to tend to the brownies.
Oh my lord those brownies. So good.
Basically, I had the most wonderful of days. I feel so lucky to be loved by this man. I feel so appreciated and loved and it makes me so happy. I was beaming for the entire day and had so many sweet dreams. Daytime on the 17th involved a lot of reading under the hot rays of the sun. I got a little cooked. May is a good month. I am excited for the summer.
