This is Zelda. Zelda is a fairly old leopard gecko who lives with my friend Jaime. She's beautiful, but lately, she hasn't been eating.
Jaime said that maybe it was because her eyesight was getting worse. As she let a worm loose in Zelda's tank, Zelda moved quickly a few times in recognition, seeming to understand that some prey was near her, but it seemed like she was unable to pinpoint exactly where it was.
After a number of pushes, Zelda finally grabbed it--the first time she'd caught and eaten something in four days--and Jaime and our friend Tom and I erupted in applause. It was beautiful.
Zelda was abstaining from food for a while. On this night, I was particularly aware of my abstinence from alcohol. We'd originally planned to go see my friend Myla's band play a Canadian Music Week show. By the time I realized what time the band would be on, it was already almost too late. Maybe we could have rushed there, but once you're not drinking anymore, you realize an interesting truth about those who are: it takes a long time for them to get moving. We decided against going and just played our own music instead.
I wrote a new song recently and played it for everyone. It went over really well. I'm honestly really proud of it and think it's super catchy, so to have others reiterate that kind of energy about it was awesome and rewarding.
All in all I had a great time with everybody and am kind of glad we didn't make the show..sorry Myla! But Valois is playing with your band next weekend, so..yay! Thanks for a good night Jaime, Jordo, Tom, Jason and Kenzie.
