The White Tree of Gondor
The tree itself was known for its grace and its whiteness. I am Shannon Grace, and I am a white lady.
I love the Earth and I am aware of the good and the bad that come with being human. In Tolkien's mythology, the White Tree is stolen, planted, and re-planted over the ages by men. It dies, it is reborn elsewhere, and all the while humanity's fascination with it grows. Much like the appeal of the one ring, humans are willing to go to great lengths to see the Tree bloom.
Having the Tree on my back is all at once beautiful, reminds me of my connection to the Earth and the roots of humanity, my nerdy core, and of what it is to be human: a dedicated, flawed, and persistent being.
"And the Tree that was withered shall be renewed, and he shall plant it in the high places, and the City shall be blessed."
-J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
