My mom and I love Mamma Mia! We once travelled to Toronto just to see it performed. We saw the movie in theatres. I've been singing ABBA since I was so young. We love Mamma Mia!
We get very emotional about the song "Slipping Through My Fingers." I guess we see quite a bit of our own mother/daughter relationship in that mother/daughter duo. Today we painted our nails and watched the movie. It was nice.
Not only was doing these things with my mom special, but it was also significant for me at this time to do something that's always a bit symbolic for me: painting my nails.
Painting my nails has always meant that I'm happy and I've got my shit together (as much as anyone can). This particular nail-painting was more luxurious than usual (requiring three coats and being both a toe and finger session), so it felt like there was even more happiness and shit-togetherness than usual. I was still on a love-high from spending two days with Donny after having not seen him for almost a whole dang month, and now I was getting a mamma love-high. Thanks for understanding and remembering that sometimes I need a bit of self-pampering. I love you, mom.
